Welcome back to HAK

Hey everyone. We learned a lot over the summer, and returned back into a flow of school. Now it’s time to bring back the technical projects.

As repeat students, we want to build more on the raw skills needed to have an idea and execute using different inputs, outputs, and coding languages. It’s a skill that our current college students are lacking.

This time, we’re looking deeper at Python as a coding language by recreating the classical tabletop basketball hoop game. This gives students a relevant understanding of the system function that can help guide the implementation of the logic, inputs, and outputs.

Class Series: Design a Basketball Minigame (Sundays 1pm CST)
$51.00

Learn Python by building a basketball mini game.

3 virtual classes + 1 final in person building session

For students 9+

The purpose of this class is to design a full project that students can take home.

Time: 1pm - 3pm on Sundays (open to adjusting).

Dates: October 30th, November 6th, November 13th, Nov 20th in person (Dallas TBD)

  • Class 1: Intro to Python coding, introduce the project.

  • Class 2: Inputs and outputs.

  • Class 3: Flashing lights and keeping score.

  • Final Class: in person - put together all the components. Debug, and take home your game.

Virtual classes will be recorded and make ups can be scheduled.

Outcomes:

Learning a common coding language, Python.

Building Mechanical + Electrical Systems

Full project design.

There are components we will buy and send to the kids. This include a microcontroller (Raspberry pi pico) and other components that can be taken apart to build other hobby projects.
